SHAKESPEARE ALIVE!
Two Week Session, 9 AM - 3:30 PM
June 16 to 27, 2008 — $290.00
Ages 7 - 18
Shakespeare comes to life at The Shea Theater with our exciting 2 week workshop. Utilizing the Bard’s famous plays, students of all ages will develop specific acting skills and experience “classic Shakespeare with a twist” through narratives, monologues and fun skill-building activities. Lunchtime (bring lunch), snack and a short rest are part of each day. An inspiring performance is scheduled at the end of the two week session!
* Previous acting experience is not required.
ACTING & THEATER
WORKSHOP SESSION I
Two Week Session, 9 AM - 3:30 PM
July 7 – 18, 2008 — $250.00
Ages 7 - 16
Our Shea Summer Theater Programs are designed to introduce and reinforce: Basic Acting Skills, Language of the Theater (voice, the physical, discipline, imagination and character development), and Stage Craft (costuming, shopping a show, set design, painting and props.) Lunchtime (bring lunch), snack and a short rest are part of each day. The goal is to bring everything learned into a fanciful production at the end of the 2 week session!
* Previous acting experience is not required.
ACTING & THEATER
WORKSHOP SESSION II
Two Week Session, 9 AM - 3:30 PM
July 21 to Aug.1, 2008 — $250.00
Ages 7 - 16
Our Summer Theater Program Session II takes off where Session I ends, with a more in-depth presentation of all of the elements of the theater. Growth through individual expression and imagination will be highlighted, along with the opportunity to participate in a expanded group production at the end of the two week session. Lunchtime (bring lunch), snack and rest will be part of each day’s events.
* Previous acting experience is not required, although students might find benefit from attending Session I.
COMEDY CAMP!
Three Week Session, 9 AM - 3:30 PM
Aug. 11 to Aug. 29, 2008 — $325.00
Student may take any 1 week of Comedy Camp for $120.00
Ages 7 - 16
Come one, come all to the zaniest summer camp your son or daughter will ever attend! The Shea Comedy Camp will introduce your student to:
The Role of the Fool (clown as truth-teller), Slapstick (Three Stooges), Mime, Irony and Satire (Greek Comedy through The Simpsons!), and The Role of Exaggeration in action, facial & vocal expression and costume! A comedy night production with skits and stand-up is the goal for the final student show. Lunchtime (bring lunch), snack and rest will be part of each day.
* Previous experience is not required.
OUR SUMMER PROGRAMS DIRECTOR AND FACILITATOR:
Laura Eden-Patnode
Laura has been involved with theater education
for over 20 years. She is a graduate of Mt. Holyoke College with a degree in English and Theater. She also is a Doctorate of Philosophy. She is currently
a professor of theater arts at Greenfield Community College and is the artistic director of The Shoestring Players. She brings to The Shea Theater a bright palette of experience from The Rhode Island Shakespeare Theater, The Royal Arts Foundation and as past director of the “Young Company”
of the Hampshire Shakespeare Theater.
